One hundred years ago, we were much more active. Now we need to work at putting movement back into our days. Here are 51 great ideas for adding physical activity to your lifestyle. Circle the ones that you will try.    

1.       Switch off the TV. Simply reduce sedentary time!
2.       Hide the remote control.
3.       Stand up. Standing burns more calories than sitting.
4.       Walk whenever you can, instead of driving.
5.       Walk to get the paper, bread, milk or mail.
6.       Take the stairs. Look for stairs as your first option when going between levels.
7.       Walk at lunch.
8.       Get off the train or bus one stop before your destination and walk the difference.
9.       Take a break. Push yourself away from your computer for ‘snacktivity’.
10.     Have a walking meeting, instead of a sit-down meeting.
11.     Stretch while your computer starts up.
12.     Walk around the house in ad breaks.
13.     Walk with a walkabout or mobile phone.
14.     Park your car away from the shops or work.
15.     Carry the groceries. Use a basket instead of a trolley.
