Question and answer time

Here is a question asked of me yesterday and my answer....

Q. Should you get into shape by first changing your diet or by starting to exercise?

A. I'm a big fan of the "exercise first" approach for some very important reasons:

Exercise is something you add to your lifestyle whereas dieting initially takes food away from your lifestyle.

Exercise can give you satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment, even for completing a single session. You may need to wait a day or two to see the results of dietary changes.

When you've just finished a calorie burning exercise session, you'll be less likely to want to undo all your good work by eating high-calories foods.

Exercising with others helps, like Bootcamp or Classes, this places you around fitness-conscious people, those who maybe in the same place you are. Here you can motivate and be motivated. Social motivation can be contagious to nudge you along.

As your fitness improves with regular exercise you'll feel more like your body is a high-performance machine. You'll want to keep putting good fuel in it.

Changing your diet at the same time that you embark on a fitness routine is undoubtedly the best approach. One plus one equals three here in terms of benefits.

However, at any time you find yourself needing to get back into shape, try the "exercise first" approach as it may help you automatically change your diet without as much conscious effort

New Bootcamp starts shortly so why not get motivated and get your spot booked limited spaces available.
