Afternoon hunger battle

Do you get to about 3/4pm and find your low on energy. Snacking before you get to the hunger stage can help you get through the afternoon without hitting the candy bar or soft drink disasters of blowing out your calorie count.

Here is a couple of options you may want to try...

  • A small apple
  • A small banana (make sure it is small) with a table spoon of peanut butter.
Sugars in the fruit take that little bit longer to metabolise that those found the the chocolate or candy, and the peanut butter provides the protein needed for energy you will need.

  • A 1/4 cup of nuts and dried fruit (trail mix) this will have the good fats needed and protein.

Warning though be careful not to increase the quantity.

  • Another good one is a table spoon of Hummus you can spread it on whole grain crackers or vegi sticks
These will be great for the office or for the kids. Give it a go and see how you feel.
